Robert Davi Sings Sinatra in Las Vegas and on Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight

You probably know him as the James Bond villain in “License to Kill,” an FBI agent in “Die Hard,” as an agent in the 90’s TV show “Profiler,” or his appearances in the movies “Goonies” and “Showgirls.”  But what you probably don’t know about Robert Davi is that he’s an amazing singer.

With the release of his new CD, “Robert Davi Sings Sinatra: On the Road to Romance,” Robert embraces his sensitive side with a collection of love songs made famous by Frank Sinatra.  Robert has a special connection with Ol’ Blue Eyes, as his screen debut was opposite Sinatra in the TV movie “Contract on Cherry Street.”

With a warm rich voice, a style of his own, and all new arrangements, Robert Davi went into the Capitol Records, Hollywood sound stage where Sinatra used to record.  Backed up by a 30-piece orchestra, Davi has created a remarkable collection of tunes from the “American Songbook.”

On Feb. 25, Robert will be a featured guest on the syndicated broadcast radio show, “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight.”

Feb. 23-25, you can hear Robert Davi sing these great songs live at The Venetian Showroom in Las Vegas.  It’s a show you don’t want to miss!

Macy Gray helps “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight” Celebrate Mardi Gras on Feb. 18, with Tunes from her New CD, “Covered”

Wherever Grammy winner Macy Gray goes, it’s a party.  Which is why Carolyn Fox is thrilled to have Macy as a featured guest on the Feb. 18th Mardi Gras edition of “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight.”

Since her single “I Try” from her debut CD, ON HOW LIFE IS became a massive global hit, Macy has been known writing and singing personal songs in her signature, textured voice.

Yet, on her new, upcoming CD, COVERED (to be released March 27th), Macy sings an eclectic collection of cover tracks, from the Eurythmics “Here Comes the Rain Again,” to Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters,” Colbie Cailatt’s “Bubbly” and Kanye West’s “Love Lockdown.”

What’s remarkable about this collection of songs, aside from the diversity of the tracks, is how Macy makes each song her own with a fresh, very personal approach.  “These were songs that I would’ve probably written in another life,” says Macy Gray.   Working with producer Hal Willner (Lou Reed, Marianne Faithfull, Laurie Anderson), this collection serves up biting, contemporary tunes with a unique twist.

You can hear a preview of the tracks on the new CD and Macy share why she chose to record them, as well as the inspiration for her fresh re-imagining of these songs, on the Feb. 18th special Mardi Gras edition of “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight” in Los Angels Saturday night at 1 AM on 1580 AM, on the show’s affiliate stations, and after the air date at CFoxRocks.com.

Mardi Gras Radio Special Part 1 Comes to Los Angeles,

This week’s installment of Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight radio show is the first of two Mardi Gras specials. One of our featured guests is Lisa Haley of Lisa Haley & the Zydekats, a genuine Louisiana girl from a musical Cajun family. We’ll play the title track from her Grammy-nominated “King Cake” CD, hear first hand about some of the New Orleans Mardi Gras traditions, and find out where Lisa finds inspiration for some of her more personal and inspiring songs.

Natalie Bovis, The Liquid Muse, will also join us to share the inside scoop on what to drink and serve to celebrate Mardi Gras. A recognized beverage consultant, mixologist, and author of the upcoming book, “The Edible Cocktail,” she shares the latest trends in entertaining and mixology. Natalie also recounts her experiences as a Judge at Tales of the Cocktails (the Oscars of the liquor industry held annually in New Orleans), as well as celebrating a Brazilian “Carnival” in Rio de Janeiro.

New Orleans’ rich musical heritage is still very much alive. Walking through the French Quarter, music is heard everywhere, from street musicians, pouring out of the clubs, and at Mardi Gras, in parade after parade. We honor that tradition this week with tunes from Randy Newman, Dr. John, Maria Muldaur, and Tuba Fats and the Chosen Few Brass Band, among others.

Tune in next week, when the Mardi Gras party continues with special guests Macy Gray, Maria Muldaur, and Sugar Blue!
