A Special Remembrance for Peter Bergman of the Firesign Theater

Yesterday, I attended a special remembrance for Peter Bergman, one of the founders of the comedy troupe, The Firesign Theater who recently passed away.  The room at the Electric Lodge was overflowing with people who knew, loved, and worked with Peter, the man who created “Radio Free Oz.”

Although Firesign members Phil Proctor and David Ossman hosted the event, many of those in attendance also shared stories of Peter.  As you would expect at the memorial for a comic genius, the remembrances were both funny and touching, often both at the same time.

In honor of Peter and the Firesign Theater album “I Think We’re All Bozos on This Bus,” there were clown noses for everyone.  As you can see in this photo of Phil, even the mirrored angel wore a red rubber nose in memory of Bergman.

My sympathy goes out to Peter’s daughter Lily, the members of the Firesign Theater, and all of the loved ones, friends, and fans everywhere who will miss Peter Bergman.
