Makana, Master of the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar, on LA Radio Tonight

Tune in tonight to hear Makana, talented singer, songwriter and a master of the Hawaiian slack key guitar on the syndicated broadcast radio show, “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight.”

Makana’s music was featured in the Oscar-winning movie, “The Descendants,” as well as on the soundtrack album.  On tonight’s show, he explains what the slack key guitar method is, its history and plays sparkling examples of this dying art form.

While honoring the cultural and musical traditions of Hawaii, Makana embraces other musical styles, including rock and blues.  He wrote an anthem for the occupy movement called “We Are the Many.” When he performed at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) World Leaders Dinner, Makana sang “We Are the Many” as a protest that was covered by many top news outlets, including CNN, BBC News, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post.
