Frank D’Angelo and Green Day’s American Idiot on Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight

Frank D’Anglo, charismatic Canadian R&B singer, songwriter, TV host and author of a new memoir, “Being Frank,” tells Carolyn Fox about the release of his new album, “Winds of Time.”  His new single, “You’re the One” debuted as the #1 added single in the US FMQB Chart.

Also on this week’s radio show, Carolyn reviews “American Idiot” the hit stage musical now playing at the Ahmanson Theatre.  From the pulsing punk rock music and mosh pit dance moves, this show is not-stop energy.   You’ll also hear several of the Green Day songs featured in the play.

Talented musician and composer Laurie Melan will be a guest on Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight syndicated radio show tonight.  Tune in to hear music from her A Place in the Sun,” CD, as well as share her experience writing music for “That 70’s Show,” and other movie and TV projects.  A serious instrumentalist who as accepted into the Boston Conservatory to study classical guitar, she is also a fine singer and harmonica player.

When Carolyn Fox, host of the syndicated broadcast radio show Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight, met with Bob Lanzner at Technovoice Mastering for an After Hours Interview, this master of music mastering explained how his art is like practicing an Eastern discipline.  Bob says it’s about going beyond what we usually hear in music, to focus on the energy of the sound.  He also tells of mastering Michael Jackson’s music.

SXSW is Streaming Live at the NPR Website–Bruce Springsteen’s Keynote Rocked

If you aren’t lucky enough to be in Austin this week for the SXSW show, you can still check out some of the action as it happens.  National Public Radio is steaming video live from the event.

I just caught Bruce Springsteen’s keynote address and it rocked.  He recounted singing with Pete Seger at Madison Square Garden to celebrate Seger’s 90th birthday.  Pete insisted that they sing all the verses of “This Land is My Land.”  The Boss demonstrated from the SXSW stage, by singing a lesser-known verse.

What is the Most Sensuous Song Ever Recorded?

As the first day of Spring is quickly approaching, a young man’s fancy turns to love.

Which is why “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight” is planning a “Spring Fever” show, and needs your help.  We’re looking for the sexiest or most sensuous song ever recorded, and hope you’ll share your favorites.  We plan to play many of your suggestions on the show this week, airing in Los Angeles as well as our affiliate stations on March 17th.

You can submit songs in whatever musical genre you like, including, but not limited to, rock, R&B, soul, country, pop or the blues.  Of course, we have some ideas of our own, but we really want to hear from you.
