Tune into LA Radio tonight to hear Makana, Master of the Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar

Makana and Carolyn Fox in the StudioIn just a couple of hours, Makana, the amazing singer, songwriter and a master of the Hawaiian slack key guitar, will appear on the syndicated broadcast radio show, “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight.”

You may have heard Makana’s music in the Oscar-winning movie, “The Descendants,” as well as on the soundtrack album.  On tonight’s show, he explains what the slack key guitar method is, its role in Hawaiian culture and plays sparkling examples of this dying American art form.

Makana also embraces other musical styles, including rock and blues.  He wrote an anthem for the occupy movement called “We Are the Many.” When he performed at the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) World Leaders Dinner, Makana sang “We Are the Many” as a bold protest that was covered by many top news outlets, including CNN, BBC News, The Washington Post and The Huffington Post.

Now Online, Interview with Phil Proctor of the Firesign Theatre

Phil Proctor of The Firesign Theatre as the evil Rocky RococoThis week, our very special guest on “Carolyn Fox’s Hollywood Spotlight,” is the fabulous Phil Proctor.  A lightening quick wit and entertaining raconteur, Phil’s voice has appeared in numerous Pixar movies, including “Toy Story,” “Finding Nemo,” and “Monsters, Inc.” in addition to his role as Howard on the long-running TV show, “Rugrats.”  He is perhaps best knows as a member of the wildly original, surreal comedy troupe, The Firesign Theatre (“Don’t Crush that Dwarf,” “How can You Be in Two Places at Once,” etc.)

Phil recently returned from an engagement in Clearwater, Florida with a stage production of the “The BBC Murders.” Based on stories written by Agatha Christie and adapted by Judith Walcutt and David Ossman (another member of The Firesign Theatre). Phil appeared in multiple roles, including the famous Belgium detective Hercule Poirot.  Others in the cast included Gary Sandy (WKRP) and Phil’s wife, Melinda Peterson, in the role of Agatha Christie.

On the podcast posted below, Phil Proctor shares behind-the-scenes stories about his role as a villain in the CW TV show based on the Green Arrow DC comics, “Arrow.” He has also recently reprised his role as evil Dr. Warren Vidic in the hit video game Assassin’s Creed III.

Tonight, Actor Comedian Phil Proctor Shares Hollywood Secrets
